Symptoms of Pet Illnesses
The following are some of the symptoms of pet illnesses
Lethargy
Inactivity or lack of response, indifference and drowsiness characterize
lethargy. There are as many as 20 indications that include cancer,
heart and pulmonary diseases, anemia.
Neurological, physical, immunal,
endocrinal, hormonal and nutritional disorders are also indicated
for lethargy.
Panting
Characterized by open-mouthed rapid and shallow respirations with
the tongue stretched out. Respirations jump up from the normal 30-40
to 300-400 per minute range. Panting is generally for cooling. Indications
in non-serious cases are fear or stress. On the other side, it indicates
one of the respiratory, cardiovascular, neurologic and hematologic
disorders
Discharges Through Ear or Vagina
A complete medical history and physical exam, some times including,
cytological test is necessary for diagnosing the cause of ear discharge.
Vaginal discharge is non urinal liquid appearance from the labial
vulva. Discharge can be mucousy, clear or colored yellow or green.
Normal vaginal discharge is when the bitch is in heat. In the immediate
postpartum (post birth), it is placental site discharging.

include vaginitis, urogenital tract infection, neoplasia (cancer),
trauma and urinary incontinence among others.
Limping
Renders your pet lame. The possible causes are over weight, arthritis,
tendon and ligament ruptures etc.
Heightened Thirst
Rare of the dog illnesses include increased thirst. The pet weight
loss coupled with heightened thirst could be Diabetes Mellitus. Kidney
failure, Liver disease increased blood calcium and occasionally the
abnormalities of the pituitary gland are also indicated.
Anal Discharges
Particularly to cats. Indicates colitis and enteritis
Discharges from Eyes
Herpes, rhinotracheitis and respiratory virus infection are suspected
for the symptom. This is particular to cats.

Europeans have issued advises to owners of pets to keep cats indoors
and dogs on a leash when taken for a walk towards the end of last
month. This followed the fears of avian influenza break out in Asian
countries. Rabies is another example of pet owners’ possibility
of contracting pet illnesses. Coming in contact with feces and vomits
could expose you to the same dangers. For Pet owners it is important to diagnose dog illness symptoms or for that matter if they have a cat as a pet; cat illness symptoms.
