In fact, if you want to Care for the Pet Fish in the Best Manner
possible and you are buying fish for the first time, you could follow
these useful Pointers:
- If you are buying fish, the first thing to do would be
to talk with a really informed salesperson at the pet store so that
you get as much information as possible. Such persons are helpful
and could guide you as to the correct pet fish supplies and fish
essentials that you need to buy.
- Secondly, you need to make sure that you buy the right
type of fish food, keeping in mind the fish that you have bought.
For example, considering betta fish and betta fish care, there are
various types of food that you can offer your betta fish. The least
expensive of them is called “Bettamin” and is freely
available in any pet store that sells betta fish as pets. Like Betta
fish, Bettamin is not expensive, and a canister of 0.81 ounces would
last you for months. Besides you would only need to feed your betta
fish twice a day. Other fish essentials would include:
- A fish tank and stand, various types of pet fish( these
are the most expensive)
- Fish food
- Fish Displays or props
- A tool for siphoning the water in the fish tank at regular
intervals
- Real rocks for covering the bottom of the tank
- You can also add some color to your fish tank with some
fake underwater rocks and colored stones.
Various types of Pet Fish for Tropical Climates
The most popular among these would include:
Betta Fish
The Latin name for the commonly called the Siamese fighting fish is
Betta Splendens. They are simply termed as betas by aquarists. They
look truly remarkable in their purple or scarlet red or blue colors
as they swim with their long fins flowing. They are known as fighting
fish because the males of the species will fight hard to the death,
if they are placed together in the same tank. If there is plenty of
room however in the tank, they can coexist with other short-finned
freshwater species.
Cat Fish
The Cat Fish rests on the sand at the bottom of the tank, immobile,
except for his eyes and his whiskers. When he lies supine at the bottom,
it signifies that he is not hungry. When hungry however, he would
start to rummage about looking for worms in the sand. As he rummages
under stones and tiny bits of root, he raises a cloud so thick in
the water, that you can see only the cloud moving at the bottom, and
not the cat fish himself.
The Swordtail
This fish hails from Central America, look beautiful, and the male
of the species has a sword like tail.
The Mollies
Though these come in different colors, black is the most popular.
The Barbs
These hail from India, are easy to keep as pets, and are peaceful
in nature and colorful to the eye as well.
The Danios
These fish also hail from India - the Zebra Danio species having horizontal
black stripes and being the best known of them- and are easy to breed
and keep as pets.
The Tetras
There are about 2000 species of this variety, and hail from South
America.
The Guppy Fish
Coming from South America and Trinidad, these are mostly domesticated,
and have been bred selectively for ages.
