Army pets in foster homes
Animals are often forgotten in times of need. When many men and women had to leave the country to serve the nation after the tragedy on September 11, many pets needed someone to take acre of them. Operation Noble Foster is an organization that was launched in response to the horrible terrorist attacks on the United States.
The organization has already provided over 3,000 deployed men and women with homes for their cats until they return to the country. This organization is part of the Defense Department's America Supports You program. The program was set up to help avoid a situation like the one that existed over 15 years ago when people had to leave their homes t0o serve in Desert Shield and Desert Storm without having a good home for their pets due to which many of them ended up in shelters.
The organization uses an interactive database that can be searched online but the group coordinates foster homes for cats and dogs. There are long lists of volunteers who are more than willing to help out as caregivers for cats until their owners come back.
This is a great project to help reunite owners and their pets after a stressful time of serving in another country. It is a well-known fact that pets can help reduce stress levels and that is just what many of the people who served in a war need. Being reunited with their pets is one of the things that many men and women quote as being one of the things that they are most looking forward to when returning.
