Pet Memorials
Loosing a beloved pet to death can make a profound impact on the owner. The being upon which you showered all your love and affection is no more. To help cope with this loss owners do exactly what they would have done if a human being had died. They have a memorial for the deceased pet.
This idea of having a memorial may have been partly influenced by the "Rainbow Bridge" belief. According to this belief the souls of the deceased pets go to some temporary "paradise" to wait for their owners. When the owners die their souls meet and cross the Rainbow Bridge to enter heaven together.
Among pet lovers and pet communities, the pets that have died are referred to as being "At the bridge" or ATB
Memorials for pets have gone online. The Original Rainbow Bridge On-Line Pet Memorial is the first website to be created to honor deceased pets. It mentions the names of all the pets of people who support the site. The site is free of charge. However donations are accepted.
There are many other websites whose purpose is to be a memorial for your pets. Prominent among them is Youns.com that is a virtual online community for family and friends of your pet. The features offered are: Tributes, Guest book and Photo album
