Exotic Pets
Exotic pets as the name itself reveals are pets that are out of the ordinary. This means they don't include the usual dogs, cats, pet birds and horses. What are some exotic pets? Well how about Guinea pigs, Hamsters and Gerbils, Rats and mice (rodents), Ferrets, Rabbits, Reptiles and Amphibians, Hermit Crabs, Hedgehogs and Insects and Spiders. That is quite a list isn't it? And there's more. In fact the list is limited only to the number of unusual animals you can make a pet of. If you can make a pet out of say a Chinchilla then you become the owner of an exotic pet. But before running out and taming a gorilla you need to ask yourself: "How do I choose an exotic pet?" Here are some factors
Don't rush the adoption and don't buy on impulse Before you buy a pet know as much as you can about it Keep all the needed equipment and supplies ready so that the transition process for your pet goes as smoothly as possible
There's another factor you need to consider and that is your motive for bringing home an exotic pet. If your motive is simply to be trendy and fashionable, in other words to "show off" your pet, don't buy it. Any pet requires a tremendous investment of time and caring not to mention money and exotic pets are no exception. In fact they need more of the above. So wanting a pet just to show it off is no reason to buy one. But if you are willing to invest the needed time and energy into rearing your pet in addition to your desire for something unusual then an exotic pet might just be for you
